Mehran Car Clone Jiangnan TT Price and Features Gets Viral in Pakistan

Some 31 years ago, engineers at Suzuki Motors Japan developed the second generation of Suzuki Alto, better known to us as the ‘Suzuki Mehran’.

The first generation of Alto was called ‘Suzuki FX’ in the Pakistani market. While globally the lifespan of the first generation Alto (or FX) was between 1979 and 1983, and that of its second generation model (Mehran) was from 1984 to 1988, the FX was available in Pakistan from 1983 to 1988, while theMehran, which appeared with an Alto badge in 1989, is still available as a ‘brand new’ car in 2015.

And, by the looks of it, it will remain with us for years to come.Today, most people are demanding a change, and it’s quite justified as well. The Mehran, since 1989, hasn’t evolved much. And the change is near to come.

The Zotye TT boasts a redesigned dashboard, 4-spoke steering wheel, cup holders, digital odometer, an Mp3 player with a USB plug, an Efi engine, front and rear seat-belts, collapsible steering column, ABS brakes, proper rear suspension with coil springs and dampers, alloy wheels and retractable side mirrors.

It is true when they say that China can literally clone everything at a lower price! A Chinese company Jaingnan Auto (a subsidiary of Zotye Automobile) has recently manufactured a lookalike of Mehran and has named it Jaingnan TT.

Car Features

The Chinese lookalike car, Jaingnan TT has 0.8 liter three-cylinder petrol engine with 36 horsepower output. The top speed of this version is 120 km/hr and 4-speed shift manual.

The car is 3.3 meters in length and 1.4 meters in width in terms of its dimensions, exactly the same dimensions on which the Pakistani Mehran was manufactured.

Price

It starts at about $2,415 or just over Rs. 2.4 lacs. For the price, you get a very basic car which is still more than what Mehran offers. The car can seat 4 people and there’s ample space at the back.

Improvements

It can be noted that there are improvements in this version which may include better a mileage (20 km/l), improved interior, optional ABS and powered windows.
